McMullen County will have eight athletes in the 1A-Region IV meet in Sam Houston State April 26-27 after having seven victories in the area meet in Tilden on April 15.

The Cowgirls placed third as a team, two points away from secondplace Rocksprings and six points away from winner D’Hanis. The Cowboys placed sixth as a team. Below are the top-four finishers who qualified for regionals:

Girls

4×400 meter relay team (Brenda Beyer, Makenzie Sherrer, Charity Harris and Caeli Taylor): first, 4:32.87.

Beyer: 400 meter dash, first, 1:04.33; 800 meter run, first, 2:36.15; triple jump: first, 32 feet, six inches.

Caeli Taylor: 1600 meter run, first, 5:48.72; 3200 meter run, first, 12:38.48.

Charity Harris: triple jump, third, 29 feet, 9 1/2 inches.

Boys

Logan Ridgeway: 110 meter hurdles, first, 16.14 seconds; 300 meter hurdles, fourth, 45.27; high jump, third, five feet, 10 inches.

Dustin Goodrum: 110 meter hurdles, third, 16.69 seconds.

Troy Allen: triple jump, third, 39 feet, two inches.

Dustin Allen: high jump, five feet, six inches.
