McMullen County’s lead guard, Caeli Taylor, received a selection to the Texas Girls Coaches Association girls basketball 1A All-State team. Taylor, a junior, averaged 27 points, six assists and four steals in district play.

She had 10 straight 20-point performances in the second half of the season. She led the Cowgirls to a 28-4 record and a trip ot the regional quarterfinal. She was one of 13 juniors among the 40 selections to the All-State team. Selections are made by the TGCA All-State Committee from submissions by TGCA member coaches.

This is the second All-State selection of the school year for Taylor, who also made the list for cross-country after placing eighth in the 1A state meet.
