Teaching has always been a passion for me.  I have a love for learning and I would hope that my students would also come to love learning as much as I do.  In order to foster this love, I try to make my classroom a safe, fun, and disciplined place for my students.  I hope they will enjoy coming to my classroom and learning something new everyday.  I feel that all children are special and need different things for each one to flourish.  I strive to love each child who walks through the door and give them not only an education but a passion to learn.  

This year will definitely be a fun year!  However, as in every school year, things will come up.  I believe that a successful year starts with an open line of communication between parents and teachers.  Please feel free to call (361-274-2000) or email (jturner@mcisd.us) anytime you have concerns.  My conference time is from 12:00 to 1:00.  Second grade is a busy place, so I will not have much time to look through my emails or check for texts.  Please do not become upset if I do not respond until after the school day is over.  If there is a last minute change in transportation, I recommend you calling Marla instead of just texting my phone.  As I mentioned above, I don’t always have time to check my phone during the day.  I look forward to this exciting school year.
